Role Overview: Kora is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join their team, responsible for crafting intuitive experiences for merchants and customers globally. As a crucial member of the Design team, you will collaborate across various teams to deliver user-centered solutions aligned with Kora’s design standards. Your role involves leading and managing projects, contributing to product and process improvements, and providing consultation as needed.

Reporting Relationships & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Reports to the Head of Design (Elias Awili).
  • Collaborates with design team members, product managers, engineers, business, marketing, compliance, and IT team members.
  • Establishes a strong working relationship with Managing Team/Directors/Team Leads across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Owns the design process from concept to delivery, ensuring a holistic approach to the user experience.
  • Improves existing design solutions and evolves products.
  • Designs rational, elegant solutions to complex problems.
  • Takes initiative from concept and discovery through delivery and beyond, considering the user journey and product ecosystem.
  • Contributes to OKRs, product strategy, vision, and roadmap by collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Utilizes data to measure and improve product experience and success.
  • Facilitates research and testing for usability and product consistency.
  • Reviews release performance, identifies key learnings, and enhances processes.
  • Ensures design quality and cohesion across product squads, supporting adjacent teams.
  • Engages with other designers to facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in designing functional, effective, and delightful software products, especially in the payments industry.
  • Portfolio showcasing live products in use.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker passionate about disrupting the status quo.
  • Strong commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience through designs.
  • Ownership of the design process and self-directed work within the development team.
  • Systems thinking ability, considering the broader payment ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in prototyping, especially using Figma.
  • Comfort with exploring beyond design, including ‘Inspect mode,’ CSS, etc.
  • Positive energy, adaptability to change, and effective workload management.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Comfort with leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in content creation and UX writing.
  • Some background in brand design.
  • Additional skills in illustration, animation, motion design, and front-end development are a bonus.

Interview Process:

  1. Recruiter Screen (15 minutes) – Abayomi Ishmael.
  2. Technical Assessment (90 minutes) – In-depth exploration of professional background, work style, and design thinking.
  3. Cultural Fit Interview (60 minutes) – Conversation with Kora’s COO, Head of People and Culture, and the relevant team head.

Working Hours: Flexible, with a requirement to coincide with 9:00 am – 5:00 pm WAT for at least 40 hours/week.
